This mid-20th-century conchology collection comprises a wide variety of marine gastropod and bivalve specimens. The collection features several families including cowries (Cypraeidae), with identifiable tiger cowries (Cypraea tigris) and panther cowries (Cypraea pantherina). Cone shells (Conidae) are represented by leopard-patterned specimens, possibly Conus leopardus or Conus litteratus. The lot includes diverse murex and spiny shells (Muricidae), such as the Venus comb murex and branched murex varieties. Abalone (Haliotidae) specimens exhibit multi-pored structures and iridescent nacre interiors. Bivalve specimens include various scallops (Pectinidae), tellins (Tellinidae), and cockles. Other gastropods present are spider conchs (Lambis), spindle shells (Fasciolariidae), olive shells (Olividae), and turban shells (Turbinidae).

The majority of the specimens are housed in individual vintage cardboard boxes, nested on cotton wool. Some larger specimens and groups of smaller shells are loose within larger cardboard boxes or contained in a small plastic bag. Several of the specimen boxes retain original handwritten collector’s slips. Legible inscriptions on these slips include Placuna on sand bottom July 1963 and diver on sand bottom July 1963.
