Now a retired Trawler man from Blyth J.E. Thompson has produced this depicting a North Shields Fish Quay harbour scene. The composition features several fishing trawlers, moored alongside a dock. The work is executed in an impressionistic maritime style. The artist captures atmospheric light, highlights to define the vessels and their reflections. The background depicts the industrial architecture of the dockside under a muted sky. The painting is signed by J.E. THOMPSON. in the lower right corner. It is housed in a dark wood frame with a gilt inner slip and a cream-coloured mount.
