A Second World War period German Luftwaffe enlisted man’s (EM) or non-commissioned officer’s (NCO) breast eagle. The insignia is machine-embroidered in grey thread on a dark blue-black wool backing. The design depicts the national emblem (Hoheitsabzeichen) as a flying eagle with swept-back wings clutching a swastika in its talons. The patch has been cut from a uniform, leaving an irregular border of the base fabric. The reverse side displays the machine-embroidery stitch patterns. Information from the seller is that this WW2 item is thought to have belonged to, A M Crozier PTE who was born 29th December 1905. Who served in the local and then National Fire Service (AFS) part time from January 1939 until 17/8/1944.He joined the armed forces at the age of 38 on 15/2/1944 and was posted out in Europe, It believed this was collected when he was in Germany.
