A pair of German WWII-period machine-embroidered cloth insignia patches, identified as national emblems (Hoheitsabzeichen). Each patch features an eagle with outstretched wings clutching a wreathed swastika, embroidered in silver-grey thread. The emblems are set onto shaped black fabric backings. This specific colour combination of silver-grey thread on black is typically associated with the Heer (Army) for use on various garments, including the black Panzer uniform or other specialised dress. Both patches show the corresponding embroidery structure on the reverse side. No manufacturer marks or stamps are visible on either item. Information from the seller is that this WW2 item is thought to have belonged to, A M Crozier PTE who was born 29th December 1905. Who served in the local and then National Fire Service (AFS) part time from January 1939 until 17/8/1944.He joined the armed forces at the age of 38 on 15/2/1944 and was posted out in Europe, It believed this was collected when he was in Germany.
