Buyer's Premium:

An extensive collection of marine gastropod, bivalve, and scaphopod specimen shells, featuring detailed collection data from the mid-20th century. The lot is comprised of loose specimens, individually boxed specimens, and multi-compartment storage cases. The collection includes eleven small cardboard specimen trays, many lined with cotton wool and containing handwritten collector identification labels. Notable transcribed labels include Dentalium specimens in glass vials, Monodonta articulata from Shikmona dated 1966, Zonaria pyrum pyrum from Israel, and Cypraea spurca from south of Haifa dated 1966. Several labels bear the name of collector D. Steen with dates from 1963. Loose specimens feature a variety of species including a large spotted cowrie, a large cone shell with a tented brown pattern, and an assortment of elongated auger and tower shells of the Terebridae and Turritellidae species displaying spotted and banded patterns. The collection is further augmented by two translucent green plastic multi-compartment cases containing a large quantity of micro-shells and small specimens, with labels indicating collection periods between 1976 and 1977.
