This Japanese woodblock print is attributed to Toshi Yoshida (1911-1995), a prominent artist of the shin-hanga movement. The scene depicts the snow-covered architecture of the Toshogu Shrine in Nikko, likely featuring the Yomei Gate, with figures ascending a stone staircase flanked by towering cedar trees and traditional stone lanterns. The print bears the printed monogram T.Y. in the lower right corner, which is associated with the Yoshida studio. The reverse of the frame’s hardboard backing includes handwritten in capital letters reading NIKKO and YOSHIDA SCHOOL, suggesting this is a studio edition or a work produced within the artist’s workshop. The work is rendered in ink and colour on paper and is housed in a gilt wood frame with a dark grey mount.
