A pair of German Second World War type Motor Vehicle Driver’s Proficiency Badges, known as Kraftfahrbewährungsabzeichen, comprising silver and bronze grades. Each badge features a stamped metal insignia depicting a five-spoke steering wheel set within a laurel wreath on a pebbled background. These metal components are mounted onto circular dark-coloured woollen cloth backings. The silver-toned badge is struck in a light metal alloy with well-defined features, while the bronze-toned badge exhibits a darker metallic finish. No maker’s marks or inscriptions are visible on the obverse of either example. Information from the seller is that this WW2 item is thought to have belonged to, A M Crozier PTE who was born 29th December 1905. Who served in the local and then National Fire Service (AFS) part time from January 1939 until 17/8/1944.He joined the armed forces at the age of 38 on 15/2/1944 and was posted out in Europe, It believed this was collected when he was in Germany.
