Buyer's Premium:

A large and diverse collection of beachcombed marine specimens, primarily sourced from the southeastern coast of Australia. The assortment features a variety of bivalves, including a prominent Frilled Venus clam (Bassina disjecta) characterised by its concentric ridges, alongside various scallop shells (Pectinidae) and mixed clams. The collection also contains a large quantity of small marine gastropods, such as top shells (Trochidae), nerites, and turbinate shells. Several small abalone or ear shells (Haliotis species) are present, showing respiratory pores and iridescent nacreous interiors. The lot further includes three spherical sea urchin tests, likely of the genus Amblypneustes, showing distinct ambulacral pore pathways, as well as a smaller, highly textured test and a specimen of branching stony coral (Scleractinia). The collection is housed in three vintage Yomix brand 500g plastic yogurt tubs. These containers feature printed text for banana and strawberry varieties, identifying the producer as Yomix Pty Ltd, Sydney, Australia, which suggests a mid-to-late 20th-century origin for the collection.
