A large conchological specimen of a Magnificent Volute, Cymbiola magnifica (synonym Cymbiolena magnifica), from the family Volutidae. The marine gastropod shell has an elongate-oval form with a low, pointed spire. The exterior surface features a light cream-to-tan background colour decorated with prominent spiral bands of dark brown and black rectangular blocks and light cream triangular tent patterns. The wide, polished aperture has a smooth interior with a warm apricot-orange colouration. Adhered to the interior of the aperture is an old rectangular collector paper label with handwritten red ink reading CYMBIOLENA MAGNIFICA. QUEENSLAND.
