A 19th-century hand-coloured steel engraving entitled TYNEMOUTH CASTLE, & BATHING PLACE. The print is inscribed in the lower margin T. Allom. to the left and W. Le Petit. to the right, identifying the work as after the artist Thomas Allom and engraved by William Le Petit. The landscape composition depicts the ruins of Tynemouth Priory and Castle atop a rocky headland, overlooking a coastal scene with figures and bathing structures in the foreground. The work is presented in a multi-layered cream mount with decorative gold-toned lines, housed within a contemporary black and gilt-finished frame.
