Brian Reeves (Welsh, contemporary). An oil on canvas. The composition is rendered in a social realist style, sharing visual affinities with the works of Bob Barker and Phil George, featuring expressive brushwork and significant impasto used to define the texture of the snow. The painting is signed BRIAN REEVES in black to the lower right corner. To the verso, the canvas is titled in pencil CAFE STILL OPEN, signed and dated 2012. Both the canvas reverse and the wooden stretcher bars bear multiple ink stamps reading WELSH ARTIST BRIAN REEVES. A printed biographical flyer for the artist is stapled to the reverse.
