A pair of marine scenes executed in watercolour with gouache highlights on paper. The works depict gaff-rigged sailing vessels, identified as British fishing smacks, shown in different maritime environments. One painting features a single vessel in active, choppy waters, while the second shows a group of boats in a calmer setting with a prominent barrel buoy in the foreground. The style is characteristic of the late 19th or early 20th-century British maritime tradition. The artworks are unsigned and are housed in matching gilt-finish wooden frames with dark olive-grey mounts. (note one frame is approximatley 1cm larger)
