An impressionistic street scene rendered in pastel and chalk on grey toned wove paper. The work depicts a row of village buildings and storefronts in Tynemouth, balanced by mature greenery to the left. The artist has effectively utilised the natural grey tone of the paper to anchor the composition. Signed lower left: W H Johns. Titled and dated lower right: Spring morning – Tynemouth Village ’89. Housed in a contemporary dark green and gilt-accented frame with a layered cream mat.
